Sneak Peek - Garden Gnomes

Here's a look at our gnomes in progress! They should be finished next week.
And of course there will be gardens for the gnomes.

  3. Ha ha I'm glad you are all lovin' them so far. And you've only gotten a sneak peek; there's still bling to add! It is so much fun to set a group of kids loose with a variety of crafty materials (yarn, foam, fluff, pipe cleaners, wire, ribbon, lace, etc), some tacky glue and a Popsicle stick for applying the glue, some brief instructions and their 8-year old imaginations. I postured myself at the glue gun for zapping on eyeballs and ears, and the rest they figured out for themselves. Today in another class I discovered a gnome with the tiniest eyes possible and the biggest beard. And there's a girl gnome with curly pipe cleaner hair, and someone built a little broom with yarn and a Popsicle stick, and.. and... and..

So yes, I HEART THEM TOO, and the enthusiastic kids who are creating them.

    1. It's just tightly rolled/folded newspaper twisted to shape, taped, and hot glued and taped in place. Easy!

    2. Shaped and tape aluminum foil would work well, too.
